CHAIR - Peter Urquhart

Peter has been active with the Isle of Skye Round Table for many years. He runs a well-established local family hotel business, a chartered boat trip business and more recently a retail initiative. He actively contributes to a number of local committees, including Portree Community Council (former chair), and offers considerable financial, management and marketing skills.


Clive Pearson
Isle of Skye Ferry CIC

CEO of Isle of Skye Ferry Community Interest Company and committee member for both the Lochalsh Trails Group and Skye & Lochalsh Tourism Forum. Clive is an Associate Lecturer and Consultant for the Open University. He has been our representative on the HTSP.

Jill Westgate

Raasay Community Association

Jill is a member of Raasay Community Council. Prior to that, she was involved in the Raasay Community Association and a wide range of voluntary organisations in England (as a volunteer, committee member and paid worker) as well as having had long experience in local government as an elected councillor.

Hamish Fraser

Highland Councillor

Hamish was re-elected in 2012 as a member for the Eilean a’ Cheo Ward. He is involved in the local Health & Social Care Forum and is passionate about retaining health services in this area. He runs his own business and has been Chair of the Federation of Small Businesses for many years. He is a native Gaelic speaker and was Chair of the Council’s Gaelic Committee.


Ruaraidh MacNeill
Waternish Community Council

Skye born Gaelic speaker and crofter/fisherman,Ruaraidh has been a member of Waternish Community Council for many years, including terms as Chair. Ruaraidh is also a member of the Coastguard Search and Rescue Team in Dunvegan

Jim Towers

Minginish Community Council

Jim was a Transport Planning Engineer with Stirling Council until he moved to Carbost, Skye in October 2004. Jim became the Community Development Worker for the S&L Community Care Forum for several years, and then joined the Forum’s Management Team for a couple of years when funding for the post ran out. Jim is Secretary for the Minginish CC and a Director of the Minginish Community Trust Association. Locally, he is also Chair of the Carbost Primary School and Nursery Parent Council. Jim is Vice Chair of the S&L Access Panel and is a member of the S&L Access Forum.
